Burgundy Mercurey Premier Cru 2011
Domaine Michael Juilliot produced this superb pinot noir under the careful hands of Laurent Juilliot. From the single vineyard ‘Le Clos Tonnerre' has a lot of fruit on a long palate which subtly expands as it pervades the full length. Philip's Frolic could not pass this wine by and here it is. You will enjoy this Premier Cru rouge immensely.
The 2011 vintage promises to be one of the great vintages of Burgundy and although very good drinking now, this Mercurey Premier Cru has the quality to mature over decades and to increasingly delight your palate.
Robert Geddes, Master of Wine review: "Philip's Frolic Mercurey Premier Cru 2011 Pinot Noir ‘Le Clos Tonnerre’ 87/100
Domaine Michel Juillot Mercurey 1er Cru 'Clos Tonnerre'. Gentle aromas of fresh flowery strawberry and subtle back ground oak. The light framed palate is round and full, thanks to oak sweetness and ripeness. The tannins firm quickly in the finish shortening the initial fleshy fruits with oak and grape tannin."
